The Western History Association has chosen Steven Sabol, associate professor of history at UNC Charlotte, to be the 2013 Arrell M. Gibson Award recipient for his article “Comparing American and Russian Internal Colonization: The ‘Touch of Civilisation’ on the Sioux and Kazakhs.”

Mark West, chair and professor in the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, was one of five finalists for the 2013 Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence – UNC Charlotte’s top teaching honor.

Psychology professor Kimberly Buch is the 2013 recipient of the highest teaching honor bestowed by UNC Charlotte, the Bank of America Award for Teaching Excellence.

Steven Rogelberg has been appointed the inaugural University Professor of UNC Charlotte. The title recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement in a professional field as well as demonstrated ability to excel at interdisciplinary research, teaching and service.
